Samara Weaving has appeared in several notable movies and television series, ranked here from worst to best. The 31-year-old Australian actress initially gained prominence from her appearance on the longstanding Australian soap opera Home and Away from 2009 to 2013. She received an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts nomination for her memorable performance as Indi Walker.

Following her success in Australia, Weaving found opportunities in the United States and has appeared in multiple films and television series ever since. Weaving also gained popularity after appearing as the main love interest in the 2017 music video for Charlie Puth’s “Attention.” She has multiple upcoming projects in various stages of production Little Sky, Azreal, and Borderline. Borderline is directed by the writer of The Babysitter and Cocaine Bear Jimmy Warden who is also Weaving’s husband. 10 The Babysitter (2017)

The Babysitter is one of the main vehicles for Samara Weaving’s rise to fame. Despite her leading role in the movie as the twisted antagonist Bee, it’s admittedly not one of her best works overall. The movie suffers from a lack of originality even though it starts out with a great premise and has exceptional production value. While The Babysitter doesn’t break new ground in the horror genre, it still contains elements that make it a fun and not-too-terrifying scary movie to watch during the Halloween season.

9 No Activity (2017 – 2021)

Will Forte and Samara Weaving in No Activity

The first three seasons of No Activity began as a live-action comedy series featuring Will Ferrell, Jesse Plemons, Tim Meadows, and Amy Sedaris. The fourth season of No Activity took a creative gamble by making the series entirely animated, featuring the voice-acting talents of Will Forte and Samara Weaving. Fans of the series were less than pleased with the switch from live-action to animation despite Forte’s and Weaving’s best efforts to keep the show afloat during the pandemic.

8 SMILF (2017 – 2019)

Samara Weaving and Frankie Shaw in SMILF

SMILF was a decent Showtime comedy series starring Franke Shaw as a haphazard twenty-something trying to figure out her life in South Boston, Massachusetts. The show existed in the same vein as Shameless and Fleabag in terms of content and tone but paled in comparison to their quality. Samara Weaving plays Nelson Rose, who is an aspiring actress and the protagonist Bridgette’s best friend. The Nelson character allowed Weaving to fully embrace a star role in an American television series for the first time and develop her acting range.

7 Scream VI (2023)

Samara Weaving Scream 6 trailer

Scream VI featured Samara Weaving in the cold opening sequence before the main credits. Weaving does not appear onscreen for a significant length of time in the Scream sequel despite initial rumors that she was being selected to take over the franchise from Neve Campbell. Weaving was the perfect choice to get the slasher film started, instantly capturing the attention of the audience and setting the stage for things to come. Scream VI is a fun yet unsettling watch that successfully extends the longstanding franchise.

6 Ready or Not (2019)

Grace armed for the hunt in Ready or Not wearing her bridal dress

Ready or Not is a compelling 2019 action horror comedy in which Weaving shines as the lead protagonist. Grace (Weaving) just got married to a wealthy man only to realize that her new in-laws have some brutal traditions she must participate in to be accepted by their family dynasty. Grace plays a terrifying game that quickly becomes violent and results in a battle for survival. Ready or Not is a fun and well-made action horror film that allowed Weaving to truly embrace the spotlight.

5 Babylon (2022)

Samara Weaving in Bablyon 2022

Babylon is a big-budget and excessive movie about the spoils of Hollywood during the 1920s. Weaving appears as the real-life Constance Moore in the film alongside heavy hitters Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Oliva Wilde. Moore was actually a big-time movie star during the 1930s and 1940s who appeared in many notable works of the era. Weaving’s character is upstaged by Margot’s Nellie who takes her role on a silent Western in the movie. While Babylon is divisive between critics and fans, it’s worth watching for the cast, scale, and director Damien Chazelle.

4 Nine Perfect Strangers (2021 – 2021)

Masha (Nicole Kidman) comforting Jessica (Samara Weaving) in Nine Perfect Strangers

The Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers features an ensemble of Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, and Samara Weaving. The intriguing premise finds Weaving and eight other characters at a remote lucrative health and wellness resort. Weaving plays Jessica Chandler, sporting long nails and a fake tan as part of her character, allowing Weaving to dive into a character in new and immersive ways. Nine Perfect Strangers is a lighthearted show that tackles deep issues in entertaining ways.

3 Hollywood (2020 – 2020)

Netflix

Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood is another entertaining ensemble that Weaving fits into seamlessly. The series follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers set in the post-WWII era of Hollywood with appearances by Jim Parsons, Jeremy Pope, Dylan McDermott, and Maude Apatow. Weaving plays Claire Wood, a completely fictional character with big dreams. Hollywood is a charming portrayal of the classic entertainment industry that isn’t entirely historically accurate. Regardless, it’s a series with enough charisma and stylized production value to keep audiences engaged.

2 Ash vs Evil Dead (2015 – 2018)

Samara Weaving in Ash vs Evil Dead

Weaving appeared in three episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead season 1 as Heather. In one of her first major American roles, Weaving plays a small supporting role in only a handful of Ash v Evil Dead episodes. The Starz horror series is an extension of the original Evil Dead movies featuring the original actor Bruce Campbell thirty years after the events of the original films. Although Weaving does not appear not in the series, it played a significant role in her career and remains a highly acclaimed show.

1 Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)

Samara Weaving in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was celebrated for its outstanding acting from its ensemble cast of Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, and Caleb Landry Jones. Weaving played the simple but earnest Penelope, the young girlfriend of Mildred’s (McDormand) ex-husband Charlie (John Hawkes). Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won several prominent awards for its ensemble cast and is an all-around outstanding film, topping the list of Samara Weaving’s best movies and television shows.
