The first trailer for Cowboy Bebop’s Shinichiro Watanabe’s Lazarus was revealed at Comic-Con, giving fans a sneak peek at the new sci-fi series.
Sci-fi and anime fans got exciting news when Adult Swim announced a new anime from the creators of cowboy bebop and john wick, titled Lazarus, and the newly released first trailer is creating even higher expectations. The announcement came shortly before the international Comic-Con, where Adult Swim teased that fans would get a closer look at the new series. Now, after days of speculation and fan excitement, the official trailer for the series has been revealed.

Lazarus is already set to be an explosive new anime when it launches. After all, the series has big names working on it. MAPPA, the studio behind jujutsu kaisen and chainsaw manis animating the series, while the genius behind cowboy bebop and space dandy Shinichiro Watanabe is the director. Add in the fact that Chad Stahelski, the stuntman and director behind the popular john wick franchise, is in charge of the action sequences, and the series is already a must-watch. Now, fans have been given a brief glimpse of what the series has in store for 2024, and it lives up to the hype.

The trailer is less than two minutes long and doesn’t contain any dialogue, but the eerie, drum-laden score that plays over the animation makes your heart race without any voiceover. The trailer features a beautifully animated and dynamic world filled with familiar cityscapes and unfamiliar technology. The action sequences are fluid and show all the talents of Stahelski and MAPPA, as the characters seem to slide across the screen as they fight, jump and fall. Despite being short, the trailer is an impressive look at what is sure to be another great series from Shinichiro Watanabe and Studio MAPPA.
According to Adult Swim, Lazarus it is scheduled to take place in the year 2052. After the neuroscientist and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Skinner introduced a miracle healing drug, the world is at peace. However, three years after he made the drug and disappeared, Dr. Skinner returns and announces that everyone who took the miracle drug from him will die after three years, meaning the entire world will die very soon. Five agents from different parts of the world come together to find Skinner and develop a vaccine for the drug, but they are racing against time to save the world. Fans can expect a fast-paced, action-packed story when Lazarus opens in 2024.
At the moment, Lazarus does not have an official release date. Adult Swim has only announced that the series will launch sometime in 2024.
