Career
Samarpan Lama started dancing in 2020 without enrolling in any professional course or help of an instructor. Instead, he opted to learn from international dancers on YouTube and replicated their moves. Subsequently, he showcased his skills by performing to popular songs and sharing his videos on various social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram. These platforms helped him to gain recognition and establish himself as a dancer.
In 2021, he auditioned for a Nepali TV channel OSR Reality for their reality TV show ‘Dance Competition’ but he was rejected in the first round. Then, he moved from Pune to Mumbai after taking a gap from his formal education.

India’s Best Dancer Season 3
In early 2023, Samarpan auditioned for the SonyLIV reality TV show ‘India’s Best Dancer’ however, he was rejected in the digital round. Later, he got a call from the selection committee who wanted to see his performance live so he went there and after performing on stage he got selected for the next rounds of the show.

Samarpan continuously performed well and because of this, he earned the title ‘King of Contemporary’ from the judge of the show, Terence Lewis. There was a fan boy moment of his life when during a touching gesture Remo D’Souza gifted him a pair of shoes as a token of respect for his dance talent. He even got a chain from Terence Lee, and Geeta Kapur, judge of the show, put a black dot on his foot to save him from the evil eye.

On 30 September 2023, the grand finale of the show, Lama was declared the winner of season 3 of the show. The finale episode featured Govinda, one of Bollywood’s most prolific dancers. Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon also appeared to promote their film Ganapath. Samarpan ‘s choreographer was Pooja Khanduja who won an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs while Samarpan Lama won an amount of Rs. 15 Lakh.

When asked about how he would utilize the prize money of Rs. 15 Lakh, he replied that he would give half of the amount to his parents and also buy a bike for his father. He has spent very little time with his father as he has worked abroad for the last 17 years and visits the family once in 2-3 years. By providing financial support, Lama hopes that his father would return to India and reunite with the family. He sincerely believes that he is now capable of supporting the family.

Once Samarpan finished school, he decided to move to Mumbai. However, his parents didn’t agree with his choice because they wanted him to study for the IELTS exam and go to Australia for a bachelor’s degree.
