One well-established MCU hero could become an even stronger asset in the battle against Kang the Conqueror if a major Marvel Comics villain debuts in the MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige first teased the development of a Fantastic Four project in the MCU at SDCC 2019, following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Fox had previously developed three projects starring Marvel’s First Family to mixed reception, so the Fantastic Four’s introduction into the MCU excited many, though news about the upcoming Phase 6 project has been scarce. Even so, Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot is expected to release on May 2, 2025.
While the cast for the MCU’s Fantastic Four is yet to be revealed, John Krasinski debuted as an alternate reality’s Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, in Phase 4’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, teasing the eventual introduction of the official Fantastic Four team. As well as numerous actors being rumored to portray Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm in the MCU, several iconic villains from Marvel Comics have also been rumored to be appearing in Fantastic Four. Perhaps the most threatening of these is Galactus and the Silver Surfer, the cosmic planet-eater and his herald, whose debuts could drastically change the landscape of the MCU.
Galactus Appearing In Fantastic Four Could Give Black Panther A Big Power Boost
Galactus’ introduction as the Fantastic Four’s first villain would be world-changing for the MCU, not least because the cosmic entity poses a potentially catastrophic threat to the Earth on a scale not seen before in the MCU. Galactus is not only a powerful threat, however, as he could also imbue one well-established MCU hero with an ability that would be very beneficial to the Avengers’ success in Phase 6’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Galactus’ MCU debut could lead to Letitia Wright’s Black Panther getting a major power upgrade, setting her up as a key player in the fight against Kang the Conqueror and his many variants.
Most of the Black Panther’s powers both in the MCU and Marvel Comics come from the hero’s communion with the Wakandan panther goddess Bast, but one Marvel Comics storyline saw the Black Panther become entangled with Galactus. After being exposed to Galactus’ cosmic mind, T’Challa received the ability to sense the multiverse, being plagued by visions of other realities. This ability was honed so that he could sense everything going on in the multiverse, which could be an incredible upgrade for Shuri’s Black Panther in the MCU if she comes into contact with Galactus after Fantastic Four.
Why The Avengers Need More Characters With Multiverse Experience And Powers
Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror and the Council of Kangs has been set up to pose a major threat to the Avengers in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, so Earth’s Mightiest Heroes need all the help they can get to battle this formidable villain. So far, only a few MCU heroes, including Loki, Doctor Strange, America Chavez, and Spider-Man, have knowledge of the multiverse, and none currently have the power to be able to defeat an infinite number of Kangs. If Shuri’s Black Panther receives a power upgrade from Galactus after Fantastic Four, the Avengers would be much better equipped to take on Kang the Conqueror in the Multiverse Saga’s future.
