Universal Pictures released the trailer for Argylle, and the first look at Henry Cavill’s upcoming movie reveals that his character’s haircut is unique, to say the least. The spy action comedy film, which is set to premiere in theaters on February 2, 2024, revolves around a novelist — Elly Conway, played by Bryce Dallas Howard — whose spy book series (aptly titled Argylle) gets her entangled in an actual underground syndicate when the plots of the novels strangely mirror their activities. As a result, Elly begins acting out the words on her pages and is thrust into the life of a spy.
As the Argylle trailer reveals, Cavill plays Agent Argylle, the fictional protagonist in Elly’s book series, in the 2024 movie. So, even though he is the film’s namesake and the face of the project, the actor’s character seemingly does not exist within the real world of Argylle. What does exist, though, is the fictional spy’s awful haircut, but there is a reasonable explanation behind Agent Argylle’s look in the action movie.
Henry Cavill’s Argylle Hair Looks So Bad Because Of The Book The Movie’s Based On
Argylle is based on the upcoming book of the same name by Elly Conway (the real person, not Bryce Dallas Howard’s character in the film), which will be released on January 4, 2024, a month before Matthew Vaughn’s movie. It is a bit unusual for a novel to be adapted into a film before it is even published, but that is the case for Argylle. As a result, not much is known about the story. However, the front cover of the book has been made public, and the artwork reveals why Henry Cavill’s character has such a strange haircut.
Argylle‘s front cover features a rough outline of Agent Argylle, who Cavill is playing in the 2024 action movie, and the drawing shows the character with Cavill’s exact haircut from the trailer. So, even though the actor is not sporting his best look in his next onscreen spy adventure, it is accurate to the film’s source material. If anyone can pull it off, though, it’s Henry Cavill.

Henry Cavill’s Argylle Role Isn’t What We Expected (Not Just The Hair)
Before Universal Pictures released the first trailer for Argylle, it was assumed that Henry Cavill held the sole starring role in the 2024 action comedy film. The actor has star power and experience leading spy movies, so it wasn’t a significant leap to make by thinking that Cavill is the main character in the film. However, the video revealed that, although Cavill plays the project’s namesake, his character is entirely fictional within the world of Argylle, and he is not the movie’s real spy.
